THE 7 CENTERS OF ENERGY
Chakra is a Sanskrit word and stands for "wheel". A wheel that spins around its own axis and can spin fast or slowly. A chakra will spin in relation to the energy level of your system. Where will you find these
chakras? They exist within us all. In the same way that we have a physical body we also have a subtile body. Our chakras are parts of a large network of subtile energies.
Today we know that living cells from humans, animals and plants give off invisible energies. Simple groups of living tissue issue a sort of light (aura) that can be seen on a Kirlian photo. Specialized groups of cells
that make up physical organs create more organized energy patterns. The human body's system consists of sensory, breathing, circulation, digestion, reproduction and secretion. There are six corresponding
chakras for these bodily functions. The brain and the whole being also has one chakra, making a total of 7 major chakras. These chakras are situated at the top of the head, forehead, throat, heart, solar plexus, the
navel and at the bottom of the pelvis.
The chakras and the physical body
Every chakra has a corresponding organ in our physical system.
The root chakra belongs together with the large intestine and the rectum. It also has a certain influence on the function of the kidneys.
The navel chakra belongs to the reproduction system, the testicles and ovaries and also the urinary bladder and kidneys.
The solar plexus chakra is in relation to the liver, gall bladder, stomach, spleen and the small intestine.
The heart chakra belongs to the heart and the arms.
The throat chakra relates to the lungs and the throat.
The third eye (forehead) chakra belongs to the brain, face, nose, eyes etc.
The crown chakra does not have a corresponding organ but is related to the whole being.
There is a clear connection between the condition of a chakra and the condition of the corresponding organ. A chakra can be over active, under active or in balance. Using Reiki can give the chakras balance and the
organs health.
Chakras and the endocrine system
The chakras change energy from one level to another by distributing Ki (also called Chi, Prana, Mana depending on belief system) to the physical body. This is partly done through the endocrine system that
regulates other systems in the body. According to tradition each chakra also corresponds to one of the major glands in the body. The Reiki hand positions not only cover the chakras but also major organs and
glands.
The root chakra is in relation to the adrenal gland.
The navel chakra to the ovaries or testicles.
The solar plexus chakra is related to the pancreas.
The heart chakra belongs together with the thymus.
The throat chakra corresponds to the thyroid gland.
The third eye chakra has a connection to the pituitary gland.
The crown chakra is usually connected to the pineal gland.
The endocrine system plays a major role for the body's daily health. The glands release hormones directly into the blood stream and control all aspects of growth, development and daily activities.
Physical problems are often the result of a blockage in the energy flow in the system made up of meridians and chakras causing the organs or glands to not function properly.

Most obviously there are the macrocosmic
manifestations of the Elements, for example, the
land, the sea, the sky and the sun. They are also
connected with the sublunary spheres: Heaven,
Earth, Abyss (the subterranean water) and Tartaros
(the subterranean fire). There are also microcosmic
manifestations, for example, as components of the
human psyche (mental, astral, etheric and physical
bodies).... The Elements also represent the stages in
various processes of growth and transformation....
Finally, from the standpoint of Jung's psychology,
the Elements (like the Gods) are archetypes;
because they are structures in the collective
unconscious, they are universal (present in all
people). As archetypes, they are beyond complete
analysis; they can be "circumscribed but not
described"; ultimately they must be experienced to
be understood.
The Greek theories of the four elements, originally
developed by Empedocles and expanded by
Aristotle, have had a significant influence upon
many traditions stretching into the 20th century -
spiritual schools based upon alchemy, astrology,
Jungian psychology (with its correspondences to
thinking, feeling, intuition and sensation),
Meyers-Briggs personality theory, and even Luscher's
four-color personality profile. According to many
mystics and transpersonal psychologists today,
individual psychological and spiritual development
is indeed related to the presence of and relationship
( the love/ harmony/ union or the strife/ opposition/
separation ) between the elements within the
psyche. When two opposing elements encounter
each other, they may neutralize each other, or
according to alchemy and Jungian thought, lead to
Coniunctio Oppositorum, the Conjunction of
Opposites, a form of higher unity and transcendence
of polarities.
There are two active elements - fire
and air - and two passive elements -
water and earth. They may be
characterized (partially and
incompletely) as follows:
Fire: intuitive, enthusiastic, having
faith, spirited.
Air: intellectual, theoretical,
detached, objective.
Water: emotional, fluid,
self-contained, sensitive.
Earth: physical, practical, persistent,
conservative.
The concept of the four elements was popularised
by Aristotle. It had been known to the Egyptians and
Chaldeans, and was to become integral to Christian
symbolism, astrology, medieval Alchemy and a
variety of 19th/20th-century spiritual practices.
The four Aristotelian elements are Earth, Water, Air
and Fire.
The ancients were did not believe that the literal
physical basis of matter is comprised thus. Nature
itself, however, is curiously suggestive in this
respect, for matter does tend to present itself to the
senses in four guises: as solids, as liquids, as gases,
and as electro-magnetic phenomena
(corresponding to the elements of earth, water, air
and fire respectively). And to survive, man needs
earth (food), air, water and fire (warmth).
The number four is, in any case, a significant one.
There are four seasons of the year. There are four
quarters: East, West, North and South. The name of
the Hebrew God has four letters. The number four
symbolises the completion of creation, stability. To
the Greeks it represented order as opposed to chaos.
We still speak of something being 'four-square'. Thus
the number four represents both the creation and
the creator.
In mystical terms, the four elements are the basis of,
as well as the life behind, the material universe.
They are woven into the mythologies of many
cultures.
Earth
Earthy people react quietly and slowly. They
apply themselves with endurance.
Emotionally they are deeply rooted and slow
to change.
Earth signs: Capricorn, Taurus, Virgo
Water
People with a strongly emphasized water
element are feeling types and are very
sensitive. Their imaginative and emotional
lives are deep and rich.
Water signs: Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces
Fire
People with a strong emphasis of the fire
element are spontaneous and impulsive,
they apply their energies wholeheartedly.
Their emotional response is quick and they
have a lively imagination.
Fire signs: Aries, Leo and Sagittarius
Air
Airy people are quick and animated. They
apply their energies in very diverse ways.
They tend to intellectualize their feelings and
expectations.
Air signs: Libra, Aquarius, Gemini

Breathing - The breath of life is important for soul travel training. When you draw in breath, you
bring Chi (or universal energy) into your lungs. This energy has an extremely high vibratory rate
and can be found in the air we breathe and the water we drink. It originates from the Heavens
above. If you hold this breath in your lungs for a few seconds, this energy will flow via the
circulatory system to the entire body charging all the organs with this powerful Chi. This raises
your vibrations and allows the body to become lighter, and to carry a more positive essence.

the painting of the heart"

The written Chinese language is essentially a
picture language, which in time became stylized.
Characters are used as a metaphor. Through a
combination of images any number of ideas can
be evoked. The ancients penned characters as a
means of spiritual elevation, for it was considered
possible to express the essential.
Chakra One: Earth, Physical identity, oriented to self-preservation Located at the base of the spine, this chakra forms our foundation. It represents the element earth, and is therefore related to our survival instincts, and to our sense of grounding and connection to our bodies and the physical plane. Ideally this chakra brings us health, prosperity, security, and dynamic presence
|
Chakra Two: Water, Emotional identity, oriented to self-gratification The second chakra, located in the abdomen, lower back, and sexual organs, is related to the element water, and to emotions and sexuality. It connects us to others through feeling, desire, sensation, and movement. Ideally this chakra brings us fluidity and grace, depth of feeling, sexual fulfilment, and the ability to accept change.
|
Chakra Five: Sound, Creative identity, oriented to self-expression This is the chakra located in the throat and is thus related to communication and creativity. Here we experience the world symbolically through vibration, such as the vibration of sound representing language.
|
Chakra Three: Fire, Ego identity, oriented to self-definition This chakra is known as the power chakra, located in the solar plexus. It rules our personal power, will, and autonomy, as well as our metabolism. When healthy, this chakra brings us energy, effectiveness, spontaneity, and non-dominating power
|
Chakra Six: Light, Archetypal identity, oriented to self-reflection This chakra is known as the brow chakra or third eye centre. It is related to the act of seeing, both physically and intuitively. As such it opens our psychic faculties and our understanding of archetypal levels. When healthy it allows us to see clearly, in effect, letting us "see the big picture."
|
Chakra Four: Air, Social identity, oriented to self-acceptance This chakra is called the heart chakra and is the middle chakra in a system of seven. It is related to love and is the integrator of opposites in the psyche: mind and body, male and female, persona and shadow, ego and unity. A healthy fourth chakra allows us to love deeply, feel compassion, have a deep sense of peace and centeredness.
|
THE FOUR BASIC EARTH ELEMENTS
|
Chakra Seven: Thought, Universal identity, oriented to self-knowledge This is the crown chakra that relates to consciousness as pure awareness. It is our connection to the greater world beyond, to a timeless, spaceless place of all-knowing. When developed, this chakra brings us knowledge, wisdom, understanding, spiritual connection, and bliss.
